The Journal of Arabic and Islamic Studies is a refereed, academic journal covering in principle all aspects of Arabic and Islamic studies. The Journal is published on the Internet by the editors and cooperating institutions and on paper by Edinburgh University Press. Contributions for articles are welcomed in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Please refer to the Style Sheet regarding formatting and the programs in which manuscripts may be submitted. All material should be sent in the first instance as an e-mail attachment to the Editor, Alex Metcalfe <a.j.metcalfe@lancaster.ac.uk>. It is advisable to attach an Adobe Acrobat PDF file (or send hard copy), if there is any question about special characters being rendered properly, or if the file was produced on a Macintosh or other platform than Windows.

The Journal also issues an English-language monograph series, at the rate of approximately one monograph a year, published by Edinburgh University Press. Monographs up to 256 pages currently require a subsidy of GBP 1750, to which the author(s) may be required to contribute. The editor of the series is Joseph N. Bell <joseph.bell@if.uib.no>.
